Description of the Fenix HT18R handheld flashlight:
The Fenix HT18R model combines all the necessary characteristics that a hunting flashlight should have. The exceptional brightness of the light, reaching 2800 lumens, is provided by the high-performance LED Luminus SFT70 (6500K), and with the use of a green or red light filter from the set, you can make the light beam less visible to wild animals. The diode also demonstrates an incredible light flux range exceeding 1 km (1100 m) and allows the lantern to be used in search tasks.
The capabilities of this model are also relevant for tactical tasks in the field, where a durable and functional light source is required. Thanks to the white beam of increased range, it is easy to detect the opponent at long distances, and colored light filters make the light less visible to other people, thereby masking the user.
Operation modes
The interface is conventionally divided into 2 groups of modes with constant and flashing light. Constant light has 4 modes with the lowest brightness of 30 lumens. Strobe and SOS flashing modes complement the functionality of the model and can be used in emergency situations, if you need to attract the attention of people with a bright light signal or vice versa, scare away a wild animal or disorient an intruder.
- Turbo: 2800 lm - 300,000 cd - 1100 meters - 1 hour 40 min;
- High: 1000 lm – 113,000 cd – 670 meters – 2 h 15 min;
- Medium: 350 lm – 40,000 cd – 400 meters – 6 h 30 min;
- Low: 30 lm – 3000 cd - 100 meters - 42 hours;
- SOS: 150 lm - 10000 cd - 200 meters - 40 hours;
- Stroboscope: 2600 lm.
Important to consider! Working time in Turbo mode is indicated in the sum with work in less bright modes, which are triggered one after the other in decreasing power. This is due to the activation of overheating protection when the internal electronics heat up to 65°C.
Control features
The tail of the light has several buttons: functional (oval) and tactical (round).
The functionality is distributed between the buttons in such a way as to provide quick access to the light and reduce the time required to select the desired mode.
- Turning on / off momentary light: pressing the tactical button. The flashlight turns off when the button is released.
- Turn on / off the constant light: press the tactical button all the way down.
- Selection of the constant light mode: pressing the function button once while the flashlight is on changes the working mode to the next one in the order of increasing brightness (Low → Medium → High → Turbo).
- Turning on / off the instant strobe: pressing the function button when the light is off. The strobe will turn off after the button is released.
- Blinking mode selection: pressing the function button while the light is on activates the strobe. Clicking the button again switches to another flashing mode.
One of the useful options of the Fenix HT18R — intelligent memory scheme of modes with constant light. The flashlight "remembers" the brightness it was last used before turning off, and activates it again the next time it is turned on.
Power source
The flashlight can only be powered by a 21700 li-ion battery with a nominal voltage of 3.6 V. A suitable brand-name battery (ARB-L21-5000 V2.0) is already included, but you can use ARB-L21-5000U, ARB-L21-4000P or similar size batteries from other manufacturers instead.
Fenix HT18R's operating voltage is between 3V and 4.2V.
No need to remove the battery from the battery compartment for recharging — this can be done through the USB Type-C port located near the head of the structure.
During charging, a colored indicator lights up on the case:
- Red: battery is charging;
- Green: battery is charged.
The indicator also lights up for 3 seconds each time the flashlight is turned on, showing the approximate amount of charge that remaining:
- Green steady: 100% - 85%;
- Green flashing: 85% - 50%;
- Red steady: 50% - 25%;
- Red flashing: 25% - 1%.
Physical parameters
The high-strength A6061-T6 aluminum body is not afraid of oxidation and rust, as it has an anti-abrasive coating on its surface. The metal withstands mechanical impacts, multiple falls from a height of one meter, and the presence of a sealing ring and a plug on the charging port increases the dust and waterproofing of the shell to the IP68 level.
The knurling on the case makes it easier to hold the lantern weighing 326 grams (including the battery). Ribs in the head of the structure accelerate heat removal.
The size of the case is 188.5 x 68 x 25.4 mm. A case is included for convenient transportation.
