M-GEAR® weapon slings are a specialized retention and carrying system that allows carrying a firearm on the body and instantly bringing it to readiness for a shot. The sling secures the weapon in a controlled position, relieves strain on the hands and shoulder girdle during prolonged carrying as well as during shooting, and simplifies weapon manipulation (reloading, changing position, etc.). A properly adjusted sling significantly increases weapon handling safety by keeping it close to the body during movement and ensuring quick access to it when needed.

What types of weapon slings are there?

Tactical weapon slings are produced in four main configurations – each with its own operational features and advantages.

One-point weapon sling

The one-point sling is attached to the weapon at a single point and is optimal for compact weaponry, such as, for example, an SMG (submachine gun). Depending on the tasks, sling settings, and strap length, one-point versions allow carrying the weapon in the chest or hip area with lightning-fast bringing of the weapon into the aiming line.

It is worth understanding that there is a significant difference between a rigid and an elastic strap in a one-point sling. In the second case, the strap will pull the weapon towards the body and dampen its sway when released, which can be important in certain operational scenarios. At the same time, elastic models can, conversely, create discomfort when handling weaponry. Here, the choice is based solely on specific goals and tasks. This tactical gear ensures high mobility, especially in confined spaces. However, buying a one-point sling for prolonged weapon carrying and in scenarios involving active maneuvering is not the best solution. Other models are better suited for such purposes.

Two-point weapon sling

The two-point sling has two attachment points, forms a stable loop around the shoulder girdle, and provides better stabilization during carrying and weapon control with the ability to quickly switch between shooting positions. Such a rifle sling is especially appropriate:

  1. During long marches. More even weight distribution significantly reduces fatigue.
  2. During rope work. Convenient for rappelling and climbing, as it allows firmly securing the weapon on the chest and freeing the hands.
  3. When it is necessary to keep the barrel line “down/to the side” (tight fit in transport, military vehicles, in urban terrain, etc.). Additionally, the M-GEAR® weapon sling features a quick-adjust strap: tighten with one movement – secured, loosen – ready to shoot.

Three-point rifle sling

The three-point sling is equipped with an additional “floating” strap running along the weapon and a third fixation point on the main strap. The design creates a semi-rigid “frame” around the weapon. Key advantages:

  • tight fit to the body;
  • rapid transition of the firearm from patrol position to shooting, including shoulder transition (right-handed/left-handed) without throwing the sling over;
  • possibility of carrying in a biathlon style (like a backpack on two straps), which is especially convenient during forced marches and carrying additional load.

Three-point weapon slings are the most functional, but due to the complexity of straps and hardware, they require excellent skills in handling this gear, as well as more precise adjustment.

Universal weapon sling

This represents a symbiosis of a one-point and two-point sling. Due to the ability to instantly change the gear configuration for the task, such models are no less popular than the classic two-point sling. In this case, you can quickly switch to a single fixation point (in tight spaces, during active weapon work, etc.) and a two-point attachment system (for weapon stabilization and increased safety).
