Description of the Fenix ​​HL16 Headlamp, Green:

Functional, reliable and ultra-light are some of the main qualities of the Fenix ​​HL16 headlamp, designed for those users who prefer an active lifestyle.

The main LED used in the model is Luminus SST20. This is a white diode that is capable of generating lighting with a brightness of up to 450 lumens in Turbo mode and a range of about 104 meters. The capabilities of the flashlight are expanded by an additional LED SMD 2835, which is responsible for the red light. This type of lighting is optimal for use at short distances to illuminate nearby objects without the effect of blinding others.

The service life of both diodes is over 50,000 hours. Another nice bonus of the lantern is the possibility of tilting the body by 60°. This allows the user to set a comfortable lighting angle, adapting the light to their own needs.

Operation modes

The six operating modes are divided into two groups: four white modes and two red modes.

White lighting

  • Turbo: 450 lumens – 2700 candelas – 3 hours – 104 meters;
  • High: 150 lumens – 846 candelas – 8 hours – 58 meters;
  • Med: 50 lumens – 261 candelas – 27 hours – 32 meters;
  • Low: 5 lumens – 24 candelas – 100 hours – 10 meters.

Red lighting

  • Constant light: 5 lumens – 10 candelas – 6 meters – 100 hours;
  • Flashing light (SOS): 5 lumens – 10 candelas – 6 meters – 200 hours.

During operation, the structure of the lantern gradually heats up, which is a normal phenomenon. If the temperature rises to 65°C, an intelligent control system is activated, which gradually reduces the power of the light to cool the electronics.

Management features

To save the user from long presses of the switch to set the required mode, the manufacturer equipped the Fenix ​​HL16 with two buttons at once. They are located in the upper part of the case and control different groups of modes: the right button is responsible for turning the light on/off and switching white modes, and the left button is for turning the light on/off and selecting the type of red lighting.

  • Activate white light: press the right button for 0.5 seconds when the light is off.
  • Activate red light: press the left button when the light is off;
  • Turn off the light: press any button for 0.5 seconds when the light is on;
  • Change mode: single press of the right (for white light) or left (for red light) switch.

The model has a memory of the last mode and an electronic lock function, which is activated by pressing one or two switches for 3 seconds. You can determine that the lock has worked with the help of a red light that flashes 4 times. To unlock the lighting device, you need to press and hold the two control buttons for 3 seconds. The red light will flash 4 times again, signaling that the lantern is ready for work.

Power source

Fenix ​​HL16 is powered by three of the most common AAA batteries. These can be both alkaline batteries with a nominal voltage of 1.5 V and disposable Ni-MH 1.2 V. Please note that Li-ion 10440 batteries are not compatible with this model.

Only power cells of the same type and brand can be installed in the battery compartment at the same time. Otherwise, there is a high probability of a lamp malfunction. To enable the user to turn on the lantern immediately after unpacking, the manufacturer included three Pairdeer alkaline batteries in the package.

Physical parameters

In the production of the Fenix ​​HL16 case, polycarbonate is used, which is characterized by high heat resistance and resistance to the influence of aggressive environments, such as acid, gasoline, lubricants, and others. In addition, the material is resistant to shocks, so the structure does not crack if the lantern is dropped from a height of 1.5 meters.

The joints of the structure are sealed in such a way that water drops and small debris do not get inside during operation in field conditions. The degree of protection meets the IP66 standard. The dimensions of the case are 64 x 48 x 27 millimeters.

The flashlight is equipped with a branded forehead mount with a width of 36 millimeters. The perforated headband has optimal breathability to prevent the appearance of an unpleasant feeling of skin tightness. The length of the rubber band can be changed using the regulator. There are reflective elements along the entire length of the mount, which make the user visible in the dark, for example, when crossing the road.

The weight of the Fenix ​​HL16, together with the headband and a complete set of batteries, is only 97.2 grams.
