Description of Fenix HL40R Cree XP-L HI V2 lights:

Fenix HL40R is a headlamp type. It is equipped with an elastic strap, with which it is attached to the head or to the protective helmet. The occipital band of this strap is made double, which contributes to a more reliable fixation.

Fenix HL40R works due to the modern and quite powerful Cree XP-L HI V2 LED. It provides a brightness of 600 lumens in Turbo mode. And an additional advantage of this model is the presence of a mechanism for manual adjustment of the lighting distance and beam angle. It is a rotating ring that changes the beam width from 13° with additional radial illumination to 52° to 75° with uniform flood light. At the same time, the lighting distance varies from 4 to 147 meters in different modes. Such a lantern is equally convenient to use for reading in a tent, lighting the entire camping area, or moving along a tourist route.

The total number of modes of operation of the HL40R flashlight is 7 pieces. But it is not difficult to find the right one among them, since these modes, with the exception of Turbo, are divided into two groups, each of which is controlled by its own button. One of the switches, when pressed for 0.5 seconds, turns on the Eco mode from the group of basic modes. After that, with short clicks on the same button, the brightness can be changed in the following order: Eco (30 lumens) – Minimum (70 lumens) – Medium (130 lumens) – Maximum (300 lumens). The flashlight does not store brightness modes in memory and always turns on with Eco brightness. The Reading mode (4 lumens) in the functional group is activated in exactly the same way if you keep the second button pressed. This group also has an SOS mode (30 lumens).

Turbo mode is turned on if, in any state, you hold down the main mode control button for 1.2 seconds. But in order to avoid excessive heating of the flashlight when working with such a high brightness, this mode will automatically turn off after a minute. If necessary, it can be activated again.

Conveniently, the HL40R flashlight can be locked. To do this, you need to hold down any of its buttons or both at once for 3 seconds. After that, you can safely carry the lantern in your bag or pocket.

This headlamp model works with a high-quality built-in lithium-polymer battery. It has a capacity of 2000 ma, which is comparable to the energy reserve of three ordinary AA batteries. You can charge the battery from any external device if you connect the lantern to it via a cable with USB and micro-USB connectors. The built-in indicator will inform the user about the charging status. One flashing diode corresponds to a charge amount of less than 20%. One constantly lit diode and one flashing - about 20-50% charge. Two light and one flashing diode - 50-80% charge. Three lights and one flashing correspond to a charge level of 80-95%. Four light-emitting diodes are a fully charged battery. You can also find out the charge level while the flashlight is working, but in this case, 4 light-emitting diodes indicate a charge level of 80-100%, 3 diodes - 60-80%, 2 diodes - 40-60%, 1 diode - 20-40%, 1 flashing diode - less than 20%.

The Fenix HL40R model has a very reliable case that protects it well from various unwanted influences. It is made of aluminum and is strong enough that the lantern will not be damaged after falling, for example, on a stone from a height of one and a half meters. In addition, it does not rust. And according to the IP-66 standard, the lantern is able to work in the rain.

Elements for attaching the lantern to the head strap are made of plastic. For this, a type of plastic with increased strength was chosen. The mounts allow you to turn the lantern vertically within 60 degrees. The head strap is easily adjustable in size, and thanks to the bifurcated occipital part, it is securely attached and does not slip.

  • duration of autonomous operation - up to 200 hours;
  • the flashlight is charged via USB;
  • the body of the headlamp is made of aluminum;
  • improved attachment to the head;
  • a manual beam focusing mechanism is provided;
  • the level of protection of the flashlight against water is IP-66;
  • the flashlight weighs 130 grams.

Warranty: The official warranty period for the Fenix HL40R flashlight is 2 years.
