PD36R V2.0 — a representative of the PD line of Fenix ​​brand flashlights, aimed at tactical use. This flashlight is an improved analog of the basic PD36R version.

Changes have affected a number of key parameters. In particular, the power of light has increased, amounting to 1700 lumens (the brightness of the basic lamp does not exceed 1600 lumens). The range of the beam has also increased to 396 meters and the duration of autonomous operation, which reaches 482 hours in the minimum mode, which is equivalent to 20 days.

One white Luminus SFT40 LED (6500K) with a service life of about 50 thousand hours is built into the lantern. Thanks to the smooth reflector, the beam has a pronounced central spot with minimal side illumination, allowing high-quality illumination of objects at long distances.

Operating modes

Light power PD36R V2.0 starts with 5 lumens in Eco mode. The interface has a total of six lighting options, including a flashing strobe, which is suitable for providing bright light signals in an emergency situation.

The lantern has an overheat protection that reduces the brightness of the mode that works when the temperature of the internal electronics exceeds the threshold of 60°C. With this option, the operating time at maximum power is indicated together with the glow time at less bright modes.

Control features

The model has a combined type of control: by means of a tactical button in the tail and a side electronic switch. Each button is responsible for a separate functionality:

• Turning the light on and off: half-pressing the tail button is responsible for the instant activation of the light, which goes out as soon as the user removes his finger from the button. To turn on constant lighting, you need to press the button in the tail as far as it will go. The lighting is turned off in the same way.
• Switching between modes: One click of the side switch when the light is on changes the current mode to the next, less powerful one.
• Activation of the strobe: Holding the side switch for 0.5 seconds turns on the flashing mode. Pressing again returns to constant light mode.

Intelligent memory circuit — another useful option in PD36R V2.0. Thus, the user does not need to search for his favorite mode again — when turned on, the lantern automatically activates the brightness that was used before turning it off (except for the flashing strobe).

Power source

One li-ion battery 21700 is already included in the delivery kit, namely Fenix ​​ARB-L21-5000 V2.0, which can withstand about 800 charge-discharge cycles. Due to the high capacity equal to 5000 mAh, insensitivity to the "memory effect" and the influence of temperature changes, the element ensures uninterrupted power supply of the lantern. The operating voltage of the model is 4.2 V, and the operating current — 3 A.

The manufacturer also allows the use of 21700 li-ion batteries from other manufacturers with the flashlight, provided that their nominal supply voltage is 3.6 V.

The USB Type-C charging port is built into the head of the flashlight and closed with a cap. The port supports 18 W (9V / 2A) fast charging technology, thanks to which the charging process lasts no more than 2.5 hours.

The lamp also has a battery level indicator, which is automatically activated for 3 seconds during each lighting activation.

The indicator works with the use of a Fenix ​​ARB-L21 battery size 21700.

Li-ion batteries without protection board, as well as 18650, 16340 and CR123A batteries are not compatible with this lighting device!

Physical parameters

A6061-T6 aluminum is the body material, and the HAIII anodized coating protects against oxidation and corrosion. The hardness of the alloy — guarantor of maintaining the functionality of the internal electronics in a situation where the device has fallen from a height of 1-1.5 meters. IP68 waterproof housing prevents moisture from getting inside if the flashlight is immersed in water up to 2 meters deep.

The dimensions of the PD36R V2.0 are 140.7 mm (length) x 26.5 mm (head diameter) x 25.5 mm (tail diameter). The weight of the lantern together with the battery is 167 grams.

The model is easy to hold, as there is a small knurl on the surface. The pocket clip is made of titanium and is removable.
