Description of Fenix ARE-D1 charger:
The Fenix ARE-D1 model is a modern charger with 1 battery slot. It is suitable for almost any conditions of use and is compatible with power elements of 9 different sizes. Among lithium-ion batteries, formats 10440, finger-type 14500, 16340, popular for flashlights 18650, 21700, 26650 are suitable. Nickel-metal hydride or less common nickel-cadmium are formats A. The movable clamping part provides tight fixation to each of the listed batteries.
Fenix ARE-D1 can be connected to a power source via a micro-USB wire, USB standard adapter. It is also compatible with power banks and derivative solar panels. Therefore, even on an autonomous journey far from the benefits of civilization, the owner of this charger will be able to recharge his gadgets. The charging current can be selected manually from 3 available options: 0.5 A, 1 A, 2 A. At the same time, the battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh is fully charged in about 1.3 hours. By the way, for nickel-based batteries, it is permissible to use only a current of 0.5 A or 1.55℃.
To avoid overcharging the batteries, Fenix ARE-D1 automatically diagnoses the type and condition of the battery. If this is a lithium-ion energy source, charging stops when the maximum level is reached. Nickel batteries continue to be charged with a small current of about 3-5 mA to guarantee a full charge.
In order for the user to freely navigate the charge status, the device has a built-in indicator. It has only 4 bulbs that can blink or glow constantly. If 1 light blinks, it means the battery is filled to 20%. If 1 light is lit, and the second is constantly flashing, the charge level is 21%-40%. If 2 lights are already on, and the third one is flashing, the charge level has reached 41%-60%. When 3 lights are on and 1 is flashing, the battery charge is 61%-80%. If 4 lights are constantly lit and 1 blinks, the battery is charged more than 81%. Five lights are on when the battery is fully charged.
The Fenix ARE-D1 model is also capable of running on a discharge so that the battery can be used as a power bank for other devices. Lithium-ion batteries of any compatible format are suitable for this purpose. The maximum discharge current reaches 2A. To switch to a discharge with a small current (approximately 100 mA), you need to hold down the button under the screen of the device for 2 seconds.
The screen of the Fenix ARE-D1 charger turns on within 2 seconds after installing the battery and connecting to the network. This model will independently determine the type of battery, select the appropriate charging program for it. As a result of a single click on the button, the screen will cyclically display data on the charge current, battery voltage, capacity charge, charging time. If you hold down the button for more than 2 seconds, the screen will turn off.
